One wedding style that will always feel timeless? A black and white wedding. There’s something about it that just always works. It feels classic without trying too hard, and it gives every part of the day a clean, elevated feel.

That’s exactly what Courtney and Evan’s wedding at Windridge Estate felt like.

A Black and White Wedding Style That Felt Effortless

Working with Sunshine Effect Planning, the black and white wedding style came to life in every part of the day. From the signage and florals to the table linens, and candles, every detail felt connected without feeling overdone. Their black dresses and tuxedos stood out against the white barn and summer landscape, while the gardens and rolling hills softened everything around them.

A Summer Day That Let the Estate Shine

It was the kind of summer day you hope for in Upstate New York. Clear skies overhead occasionally dotted with fluffy white clouds, and a steady warmth that carried through the afternoon into the evening.

The gardens were at their peak, something our owner, Jack, thoughtfully plans for all season. Along the paths and around the barn, flowers were in full bloom, adding color that complemented the rest of the design.

Thoughtful Details That Made the Day Theirs

Some of the best parts of the day were the details that felt personal to Courtney and Evan. After the ceremony, they changed into matching black and white sneakers customized with their wedding date so they could comfortably dance the night away.

Inside the reception, guests found their tables through a display of childhood photos of the couple, giving everyone a small glimpse into their lives before this season together. Nearby, custom cocktails added another personal touch to the evening, including an Oaks Lily for her and a Whiskey Coke for him.

Later in the night, guests gathered outside with cigars and custom matches in hand, carrying the celebration well beyond the dance floor.

A Bluestone Patio First Dance to Remember

When it came time for their first dance, Courtney and Evan made their way onto the bluestone patio. The firepits were already lit behind them, giving the space a cozy feel as the sun continued to set.

Guests had spent the day enjoying different parts of the property, but here, everyone was drawn back together. For a few minutes, the movement of the day paused, and all attention settled on Courtney and Evan as they shared their first dance.

Sunset Moments Across the Estate

As the sun started to drop, the light across the property shifted into something softer. It settled over the hills and filtered through the trees in a way that felt distinctly like a summer evening in Upstate New York.

With Emily Netti Photography leading the way, Courtney and Evan stepped out for their sunset portraits, moving through different parts of the estate as the light changed around them. They wandered around the gravel paths surrounding the barn, watching their wedding guests mingle and enjoy the evening.

A Celebration That Felt Easy for Everyone

By the time the reception was underway, everything felt settled in.

Courtney and Evan didn’t have to keep track of where people were or whether guests were enjoying themselves. It was already happening. Some were out on the lawn, others near the patio, and others inside, dancing the night away.

That gave them the freedom to stay present with each other and actually take in what was happening around them. They could step away for a moment, come back, and know the energy of the night was still there.

What a Wedding Weekend at Windridge Can Feel Like

Courtney and Evan’s wedding came together in a way that felt cohesive from start to finish. The design, the setting, and the way the day unfolded all worked together without competing for attention.

More than anything, it gave them the space to be present. They could step into each part of the day as it came, knowing their guests were enjoying it just as much.

If you’re starting to picture your own wedding here, one of the first things to consider is the season. The setting shifts throughout the year, and each one brings something different to the experience. You can get a closer look at how that plays out in our blog, The Best Time of Year to Get Married at Windridge Estate.

No matter when you choose to celebrate, the goal stays the same: create a weekend where you can spend time with your people and actually enjoy it as it’s happening. If you’d like to see how it all comes together, schedule a tour and experience the property in person.
